Community service is at the heart of Home Sown Gardens and we are thrilled to announce that we are now accepting applications for our 2020 Community Service Project!
HSG’s Community Service Project allows us to give back to our community and create beauty in neglected or underutilized spaces. We are proud to work with nonprofits and other groups in the Twin Cities to restore the power of plants in our local communities.
Q: Who can apply for the 2020 Community Service Project?
A: We are excited to hear from non-profits, including religious groups, schools, community centers, group homes, or others. Applications for this project are also welcome from individuals who are experiencing a crisis or extenuating need.
Q: What services are included in the project scope?
A: We are proud to offer all of our skills and experience in creating beauty in your space! Previous projects have included restoring overgrown memory gardens, redesigning gardens with existing plants, and planting new plants provided by the project client. We are not able to provide raw materials or supplies or work time greater than 7 hours/ one day. The Community Service Project includes an on-site consultation prior to project scheduling to give your group or organization the time to acquire plant materials, mulch, or other supplies.
Q: How many service projects is HSG able to complete this year?
A: Due to the impact of COVID-19 on our business, we need to limit the number of projects we are able to commit to this year to one. The applications will be reviewed and voted on by our entire staff to select this year’s project, to be completed in August. We look forward to being able to create more beauty in the future with additional projects in the seasons to come!
Q: How do I submit my group or organization for consideration?
A: You can fill out a project application by Friday, July 23rd, at our website: Click here to apply!
We look forward to receiving your application!
